John F Hunt Remediation Commissions eviFile and 3D Repo for ‘UK-First’
Civil engineering group John F Hunt Remediation has commissioned a UK-first combination of workflow and BIM technologies, to increase their efficiency during groundworks of the 26-acre site near Stratford, East London.
The mixed-use masterplan is set to deliver 1,200 new homes and 624,000 sq ft of office space, bringing 2,500 jobs to the local area. Work on phase one began in 2017 with the £70m project scheduled for completion by 2021.
In addition to homes and offices, plans for the site also include 131,000 sq ft of green space, a 350-room hotel, restaurants and a primary school.
The site dates back as far as 1086, when eight tidal mills were recorded on the River Lea in the Domesday Book. During the industrial revolution, it was home to heavy industry including a sugar refinery, ink manufacturer and piggery, meaning extensive remediation was needed to bring the site into modern residential and commercial use.
John F Hunt commissioned workflow and digital evidence platform eviFile and cloud-based BIM collaboration platform 3D Repo, to track progress of all demolition, remediation and enabling works.
This is believed to be the first time this combination of technologies has ever been used on a groundworks project in the UK, making it one of the most technologically advanced regeneration projects operating nationwide.
Web-based eviFile allows the contractor to securely record work onsite, report issues with assets and allocate tasks to field operatives. Data is instantly relayed into a model hosted by 3D Repo enabling John F Hunt to view issues and manage assets in real time.
eviFile and 3D Repo believe clients using their partnership will achieve on average a 40 per cent more efficient programme through effective data sharing and reduced time onsite.
